Zastava NTV Terrain Vehicle — Reliable in Various Terrain Conditions
The Zastava NTV 4x4 terrain vehicle was introduced into the Serbian Armed Forces in December 2019. With its modern 170 HP Cummins engine, automatic transmission, and independent suspension, it delivers optimal performance across diverse terrains.
With the intention that the Serbian Armed Forces should not lag behind any other army in our region in technological terms, and with the goal of primarily equipping with domestic products that are the fruit of domestic ingenuity and what our defense industry can independently produce, the Zastava NTV vehicle was introduced into the Serbian Armed Forces in December 2019. Production of the zero series began in early January 2020.
The Zastava Tervo 1.4t 4x4 (NTV) is a domestically produced vehicle of modern concept, with independent suspension and automatic transmission, which in combination with the transfer case and modern engine provide optimal traction-dynamic characteristics and respectable behavior in various terrain conditions.
Production of the zero series commenced in early January 2020 in two versions: 1+2 Cargo and 1+8 Combi. The Zastava Tervo 1.4t 4x4 (NTV) is powered by a four-stroke, turbo-diesel engine with Common Rail CUMMINS engine, displacement 3760 cm3, rated power 125 kW (170 HP), and maximum torque 600 Nm. The engine uses Euro-diesel fuel, with average consumption of 15-22 l/100 km, depending on terrain and load conditions. Maximum speed is around 100 km/h.
The declared payload capacity is 1,400 kg, but the maximum load characteristics of the selected axles and tires provide a certain payload reserve, which can be used to increase the ballistic protection of the vehicle by adding additional armor or installing additional weapons.
Vehicles from the Zastava Tervo 1.4t 4x4 (NTV) family can successfully replace obsolete vehicles in the Serbian Armed Forces fleet with similar declared payload, primarily vehicles whose resources have expired and which have maintenance problems due to the inability to secure spare parts.
Terrain testing of the NTV was conducted in the second half of 2019, organized by the Military Technical Institute with participation from the Technical Test Center, the Armed Forces, and the manufacturer. The vehicle demonstrated excellent performance in all conditions: on asphalt, macadam, off-road terrain, ascents, descents, and fording water obstacles.
